Keane Lewis-Potter scored a goal late in the first half, putting the Bees up 1-0. However, a Yehor Yarmoliuk red card just minutes later turned the game upside down. Liverpool made the most of their advantage and scored two second-half goals. The Bees fought hard and had opportunities to tie the game, but couldn't get the ball in the net. The final blow for the Bees came when Vitaly Janelt picked up a second yellow card late in the game.

This was the first time that the Bees have had two players sent off in the same Premier League match.

Both players will be banned for the match against Hull, while Yarmoliuk will also miss the Nottingham Forest fixture.

What was familiar

Bees score first

As mentioned above, the Bees scored first in the game. They've done so in every league game this season, the only team to do so. The top four teams for first goals are also the top four teams for total goals. Interestingly, Brighton has the most goals, but among this group, has the fewest first goals.

KLP scores in the box

For much of the first half, the Bees were unable to convert possession into scoring chances. However, in the 44th minute, Igor Thiago placed a perfect cross into the box for Lewis-Potter to hammer home with a brilliant header. Both of KLP's Premier League goals have been in the first half, at home, launched from the middle of the box.

More cards

After 7 games, the Bees are second in the league, having received 21 cards: 20 "regular" yellows, a second yellow and a red. At the same point last season, they had received 14 cards, all yellow.

More fouls

The Bees picked up another 14 fouls, taking their total to a league-high 103, or 14.7 per game. At the same time, Bees players have only drawn 65 fouls – that's nearly two fouls for every time they've been fouled.

Statistically, this is one of the areas where the Keith Andrews Bees are very different from Thomas Frank's Bees. Andrews has often talked about how he wants the team to play with an edge. Perhaps this is an exemplification of that.

Another yellow card for Thiago

Thiago was given a yellow card for a bad foul against Liverpool. This is his fourth straight game with a yellow card. He'll be walking a tightrope for the next several games, hoping to avoid a fifth and a mandatory one-game ban. He picked up 7 yellow cards last season.
