Brentford's fast-breaking attack created a dangerous scoring opportunity for Kevin Schade in the second minute. Schade was fouled in the box, and Igor Thiago calmly scored from the penalty spot. The Brazilian had another goal from a fortunate deflection in the second half that put the Bees up 2-1, but a stoppage-time goal for Everton meant that the game ended tied at two goals apiece.

Dams off

Mikkel Damsgaard started the game, but left at halftime, apparently feeling unwell. This is the 13th time this season that he has started and then been subbed off, tied with midfielder Yehor Yarmoliuk for the most in the team.
