The Bees survived a blustery day away at Hull. There weren't a lot of great chances at either end of the pitch. Dango Ouattara played well and scored his first goal of the season to help secure the draw for Brentford.

Different goal scorers

When Dango scored, he became the tenth different Bee to score in the league this season. That puts Brentford second in the league, only behind Brighton.

Last season, the Bees finished 15th in the league with only 12 different goal scorers across the 38-game season. Brighton also led the league last season, with a remarkable 19 different goal scorers.

Headed shots

The Bees managed six headed shots against Hull City, with four of the six on target. Both are above average for the Bees, who are very strong in this area. Brentford lead the league in both headed shots and headed shots on target. It's clearly part of their attacking strategy.

The Bees are leading the league in related statistical categories like shot on target distance (lowest in the league at 13.4m on average) and best in the league with successful crosses.

Assist from Thiago

Igor Thiago is continuing to make contributions in recent games. In the last four league games he has a goal and two official assists, plus a third unofficial assist via a Correlation FC goal contribution. Of course, Bees fans would love to see more goals from the big man, but it is positive that he's creating chances for other Bees to score.

Bees concede a penalty

While it's still early in the season, the Bees have given up a league-high of two penalties. A misplay between Caoimhin Kelleher and stand-in midfielder Aaron Hickey led to a foul in the box and a goal for Hull.

What was different

Midfield changes

As discussed before the game, this was the first time since Yehor Yarmoliuk's inaugural season in 2023-24 that both he and Vitaly Janelt were unavailable for the game. Their absence led to both Mamadou Sangare and Hickey starting in the defensive midfield positions, with Mathias Jensen up front. Both saw a lot of the ball, with Sangare finishing the game with a match-high 95 touches and 79 passes, nearly double the total of any other player.
