The Bees built on their decisive win against West Ham, sticking with the same lineup and scoring three well earned goals against the defending champions. Late goals for Liverpool in both halves made it close, but Brentford was able to hold on for the win.

Trends that continued

Goals from the front 3

10 of Brentford's 14 league goals so far this season has come from their attacking trio of Igor Thiago, Kevin Schade and Dango Ouattara, with each scoring in the same game for the first time this season. The three goals were all different and showed off different team strengths – Ouatarra's close volley followed a Michael Kayode long throw, Schade's calm finish on the counter after a Mikkel Damsgaard through ball, and Thiago securing victory with a confident penalty.

The front trio's 10 goals currently leaves them third in the league for combined goals. The Bees have played all of the other teams in the top 5, and their next league game is away at Crystal Palace, sixth on the list.

Perfect on TNT Sports, good at 8pm

The Bees have now won both of their games televised on TNT Sports in the UK. They previously beat Manchester United on the same network. The club has now played four league games in the 20:00 time slot, picking up 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. They're not currently scheduled to play in the late time slot until their final game of the calendar year, at home to Tottenham.

What was different

Yarmo out

Yehor Yarmoliuk has started every game for the Bees this season, and has turned in a number of excellent performances. Brentford benefits from his relentless running and fearless tackles. However, in the 21st minute against Liverpool, he fell awkwardly while attempting to tackle the (virtually unstoppable) Dominik Szoboszlai. Yarmoliuk tried to play through the pain, but eventually subbed off in the 29th minute, replaced by Vitaly Janelt. Hopefully the injury is minor and Yarmoliuk will be able to return quickly, but it did look like a painful abdominal injury.
