Thomas Frank leaves Brentford for Tottenham

After 9 years with the club, 7 as head coach, Thomas Frank has left the Bees to pursue Champions League football in North London. He will of course be missed at Brentford and long remembered as one of the club's great coaches.
A few months ago we looked at some of the milestones Frank had achieved during his first 300 games with the club. Instead of revisiting that story, today we will look at some of the memorable streaks that the Bees enjoyed during Frank's tenure.
First 10 games
Things got off to a rocky start, with the Bees only picking up 1 win in Frank's first 10 games after taking over from Dean Smith in October 2018.
Games 11-20
After the rough start and a formation change, the Bees started scoring more and conceding less, and Frank led the Bees to a 10 game unbeaten streak.
Covid-19 era
When games initially resumed after a 3.5 month pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the Bees won 7 straight games in empty stadiums, pushing them up the table into a strong playoff position. The Bees final game before the pandemic break was a memorable 5-0 win at home against Sheffield Wednesday which brings the winning streak to 8. They drew the previous game, resulting in a 9 game undefeated streak that stretched from 29th February to 15th July. Going back a bit further, the Bees only suffered 1 loss from 1st February through 15th July, an amazing stretch of 165 days. That might be difficult to top.
Promotion season 2020-21
The Bees had an incredible season in 2020-21, their promotion season. They managed a 21 game unbeaten streak from 27th October 2020 through 10th February 2021. They finished the season with only 1 loss in their final 15 games, that being the narrow 1-0 away defeat to Bournemouth in the first leg of the playoff semifinal.
Empty/nearly empty stadiums
During the pandemic, most games were played in empty or nearly empty stadiums. Frank led the Bees to 38 wins in that time (40 if you include two Cup wins on penalty kicks), a win rate of 55% (or 58% with the Cup wins). They picked up points in a remarkable 55 of 69 games a rate of 80%.
Start of the Premier League era (2021-22)
The Bees made an incredible start to their time in the Premier League. Everybody remembers the 2-0 at home against Arsenal on opening night, but the Bees followed that up by picking up points in 7 of the next 8 games across all competitions.
Second Premier League season (2022-23)
Frank proved that the Bees success in their first Premier Season wasn't due to luck with a quick start in their second season. Their best stretch of play saw them go on a run of 16 league games with only 2 losses, running from 29th October 2022 to 1st April 2023.
2024-25 season
In Frank's final season in charge at Brentford, he led the team to a few memorable streaks.
- Undefeated in first 8 home games from 18th August to 7th December
- Goals in the first minute of 3 consecutive games, a new Premier League record
- 5 straight away wins from 4th January to 15th March 2025
- 4 straight wins and undefeated in 6 games from 6th April to 10th May as the season wound down
Correlation FC wishes Frank the best of luck in his post-Brentford career. We hope that he has some more memorable streaks along the way.
