Who played and who was injured in 2024-25?

With summer officially here and the start of the new season still comfortably off in the distance, we continue our reflection on last season. This time, we'll take a look at who played, and who didn't play for Brentford in 2024-25.

Who played?

As we've mentioned previously, Nathan Collins was the only outfield player in the league to play ever minute of the past season. Bryan Mbeumo followed closely behind. Goalkeeper Mark Flekken played virtually all of the season. On the other end of the spectrum, some of the Bees youngest talents made brief appearances throughout the season, including Premier League debuts by Gustavo Nunes, Yunus Konak, Ryan Trevitt, Ji-Soo Kim, Jayden Meghoma.

Here we look at how playing time was spread across the 38 league games.

Solid dark blue lines indicate stretches of time where a player started and played most (or all) minutes. In addition to Collins, Mbeumo and Flekken, Keane Lewis-Potter, Ethan Pinnock, Sepp van den Berg, Christian Norgaard and Yoane Wissa were all regulars throughout different parts of the season.

Broken stretches of dark blue lines indicate players who regularly started but didn't play all 90 minutes. This is especially evident in midfield as Thomas Frank frequently used late game substitutes to raise energy levels or make tactical changes Mikkel Damsgaard, Vitaly Janelt and Yehor Yarmoliuk were frequently in this situation.

Who didn't play?

In the Bournemouth match preview in March 2025, we compared 2024-25 to 2023-24 and saw that while the Bees had missed more games due to injury in 2024-25, they had also picked up more points. Let's revisit that now to see the data looked at the end of the season.

Overall, both trends continued. In 2024-25, the Bees continued to miss more games due to injury than the previous season and also continued to earn more points. A lot more. Over the final months, this season's Bees generally did get a bit healthier as several players returned from long-term injuries (Henry, Hickey, Nunes, Thiago) and they finished strong, picking up points in 7 of their final 8 games. It's never good to miss anything close to 250 cumulative games throughout the year, but the Bees planning and squad depth helped them to weather the storm more effectively this season.

Here's a look at the 10 players who missed the most Premier League games in 2024-25 due to injury.
